Control Of The Air-Fuel Ratio Of Carburetors
(AREA)
Abstract
21,752. Watchorn, R., [Stewart, A. C.]. Sept. 19. Spray carburettors.-The air Valve c is raised by suction and falls by gravity and its stem d has a fuel well q open to the float chamber k. Into this well dips a nozzle r of comparatively large bore carried by the air valve, and having its upper end concentrically surrounded by air passages s forming the extremities of sinuous ducts t formed in the head of the air valve. A cork float l pivoted at m acts upon the fuel valve n. The fuel supply is further controlled by a tube f sliding over an adjustable pin p. The motion of the air valve is damped by fuel which enters the chamber below the stem d through a narrow annular passage g. A water jacket is provided at b. A passage is provided between the suction space and float chamber to control the fuel supply at high speeds. Specification 17,309/05 is referred to.
