Abstract
24,297. Evans, W. C. B., and Cottrell, W. S. Nov. 24. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. Fuel is fed to the spraying-nozzle S, of a carburettor for light oils, paraffin, and alcohol, through an orifice D<1> which opens into an annular float chamber E. The fuel is supplied to the float chamber through a valve M which is depressed when the float F rests on a ring G. The spraying- nozzle S is controlled by an adjustable valve V, and is surrounded by a conical sleeve P through which the air supply is drawn from the ports Q. The sleeve P may be replaced by another of different section to suit the power of the engine. The air supply at the base of the carburettor may be controlled by either of the devices shown in Figs. 5 and 6, in which the valves are operated by the piston suction.
