Control Of The Air-Fuel Ratio Of Carburetors
(AREA)
Abstract
5333. Lake, H. H., [Scott, W.]. March 5. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. The air and fuel supplies to a gasolene or. other carburettor are simultaneously controlled by the engine suction. The air valve 20 is connected to a needle'valve 19, which is surrounded by an adjustable sleeve 18, through a fuel shut-off valve 21. Provision is made to maintain the level of the fuel in the float chamber 13 above that in the spraying- nozzle ; and also to regulate the carburettor outlet by means of a hand-operated throttle valve 6. When starting, the air valve 20 and its connexions are raised by a rod 28. In a modification of the fuelsupply device, the needle valve 19 is adjusted from outside the carburettor. If preferred, the throttle valve may be arranged in the outlet pipe.
