Abstract
3257. Skinner, G. H. Feb. 16. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. The carburettors shown maintain the velocity of the air and the proportion of air to fuel practically constant. In Fig. 1, the air valve C is shown close to the fuel nozzle B and carries the fuel valve b. It is loaded by a spring c adjustable by the nut c'. The air inlet is shown at A' and the air and fuel outlet at A'. The air and fuel valves will therefore open to an extent depending on the suction of the engine and the compression of the spring c. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the valve C is of a different shape, and when in its lowest position prevents communication between the inlet end A' and the outlet end A<2> of the carburettor. The Provisional Specification states that the air valve may be controlled by some form of governor or by hand.
