Output Control And Ontrol Of Special Type Engine
(AREA)
Abstract
12,280. Ware, S. J. May 28. Gas or explosive-vapour engines, carburetting in. The carburettor is suitable for use with paraffin, petrol, alcohol, &c. The primary-air and mixture supplies are controlled simultaneously, and an additional supply of air is regulated by varying the area of the orifice leading from the fuel cavity to the atmosphere. The needle valve H is loaded by a weight J to which are hinged the levers F, which bear at their lower edges against a ring formed in the float chamber casting, and at their upper edges against the float E. The body of the carburettor L is provided with an air inlet S and a mixture outlet N, these two passages being controlled together by a sleeve Q which can be raised or lowered by a lever X. The nozzle portion 4 is provided with a cavity 5 and has screwed into it a tube 0, open at the top to the atmosphere through a hole V adjustable by a cap W. The lower end 6 of the tube 0 extends below the level of the fuel. Any number of nozzles 4 may be used.
