5129. Coumont, S. March 1. Gas or explosivevapour engines, carburetting in. Liquid hydrocarbons are supplied to the carburetter above the disc valve 8 through the ports 9, after issuing from the supply tube 1, the opening of which is controlled by the adjustable conical valve 10, screwed into, and forming part of, the disc valve 8. Air enters through ports in the side of the chamber 3 which register with ports 17 in the adjustable cap 15. As the spring-controlled disc valve is withdrawn from its seat by the suction, the conical valve 10 permits the passage of hydrocarbons on to the disc valve, which are carried into the carburetting-chamber by the incoming air. A stop 6 limits the movement of the disc valve by engaging with a projection on the tubular extension 2, sliding on the supply pipe 1. The conical gauze work 13, surrounding the spring 11, facilitates vaporization and arrests foreign matter in the explosive mixture.
