Output Control And Ontrol Of Special Type Engine

Abstract
17,512. Simms, F. R. Aug. 11. Gas or explosive-vapour engines using either petrol or petroleum. The twocylinder engine shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is fitted with a petroleum vaporizer b, to which exhaust gases are supplied through the exhaust pipes c, c<1>. To maintain the temperature of the vaporizer constant, the supply of exhaust gases through the pipe c is controlled by a governor or hand-operated valve e. The petroleum mixture on leaving the vaporizer enters the c y l i n d e r through the inlet pipe f. Petrol mixture may, when desired, be supplied to the cylinders from the carburetter h through the passages g, j<1>. The passages f, g and the cylinder inlet port j<1> are controlled by a valve i, l to which a partial rotation is imparted for closing the passages f or g, and a longitudinal movement for regulating the opening of the port j<1>. The longitudinal movement is controlled by the governor and the rotary motion by hand.
