Abstract

24,651. Baxter, P. Oct. 28. Spray carburettors; vaporizers, external.-The heavy hydrocarbon passes from the constant-level device A to a nozzle C containing a ball D which checks the flow of fuel at high speed. The supply of air is controlled either by the hand-actuated device F, Fig. 1, or the suction-actuated device R, Fig. 3, which consists of a piston having a port S which uncovers the triangular slots U as the suction increases. The mixture is gasified in a chamber comprising supply and delivery tubes M, R', connected by curved tubes N and having a reservoir O, all heated by the exhaust gases. For starting purposes, a light fuel is used in a supplementary carburettor Q, which is connected by a three-way cock I to the induction pipe.
