Abstract

407,511. Spray carburetters. NILSSON, A. L., S÷dertõlje, Sweden. Feb. 10, 1933, No. 4141. Convention date, Feb. 11, 1932. [Class 7 (iii).] Compressed combustible mixture or burnt gas from an engine cylinder 13 is supplied to the nozzle 10 of an injector 8 which induces fuel through a conduit 7 from a well 4, into which it is drawn from a float chamber 1 by suction transmitted through a conduit 5 connected to an air intake 6 : the conduit 5 may communicate with the atmosphere through a valve 21. The quantity of fuel drawn through the conduit 7 is controlled by a valve 22 connected to the throttle valve 25 by levers 46, 48, 47. The injector is connected to the air intake by a tube 11, which is surrounded by a jacket 17 containing exhaust gases or hot air ; openings 20 permit some of the heating media to enter the tube 11. To ensure a uniform flow of fuel during idling, part of the heating media is conveyed from the jacket 17 through a conduit 24 into the conduit 7. A valve 23, in the conduit 24 is connected through levers 49, 51, 50 with the throttle 25. An enlargement 16 in the conduit 12 minimises fluctuations of pressure in the injector nozzle. When the carburetter is used with easily gasified fuels, the tube 11 together with its heating jacket 17, and the conduit 24 with its valve 23 may be omitted ; fuel then enters the well 4, Fig. 2, from the float chamber 1 by the jet 3, and channels 26, 27, 28 and the valve 22 which is opened by a spring 29 is engaged by an arm 31 secured to the shaft 30 of the throttle valve 25. During slow running, fuel enters through a sleeve 33 and is deposited in a recess 34 connected bv a conduit 35 with the injector 8. Specification 407,512, is referred to.
