1835. Caudwell, M. E. Jan. 22. Vaporizers, external.-A vaporizer has a sectional body portion a which is secured round the exhaust pipe of the engine and forms a substantially, helical passage d of gradually increasing sectional area from the fuel inlet e to the outlet to the mixing-chamber. A throttle formed by two ported sleeves i, j regulates the admission of the vaporized fuel and of air to this chamber. The outer sleeve is adjusted longitudinally by the flange i<1> for correctly proportioning the mixture, the inner one being rotated through the rod k by the engine governor to vary the volume of mixture supplied. The air orifices are adjustable by means of a rotatable disk m. The gas-inlet port in the sleeve i has a notch to facilitate slow running, and a sump pipe p is provided at the end of the mixing- chamber in which unvaporized oil is collected and drawn off. For starting, petrol may be fed from a sight-feed lubricator or the like to the passage between the vaporizer and the mixing-chamber.
