Abstract

100,507. White, H. D. Feb. 4, 1916. Vaporizers, external.-Liquid fuel from the nozzle 21 is carried, by air entering at 12 into a large number of small passages 4 formed in a casting 1 heated by exhaust gases. The fuel is vaporized and gasified, and the resulting mixture, after passing the throttle valve 18, is supplied with additional air through an adjustable suctionactuated valve 19. The casting 1 comprises a chamber 2 through which the exhaust gases pass, the amount of heat conducted to the passages 4 being regulated by drilling holes or forming slots in the conducting-wall 6, and providing metal plugs for insertion in the holes or slots as required. The temperature for paraffin should approximate to 570‹ F. The nozzle 21 is supplied from the float chamber 11, to which petrol for starting and paraffin for normal running are admitted by cocks at 16, 17. Washers are inserted at 8, and the parts 1, 9, 10, 13 are held together by bolts or screwed joints.
