Abstract
140,198. Jones, G. H. March 12, 1919. Spray carburettors. -The carburettor comprises a fuel nozzle K which projects into the wall of the choke-tube F, a fuel-exit passage H in alinement therewith, and contiguous passages J, I formed respectively in the walls of the choke-tube and the carburettor body, the passage I leading to a by-pass orifice E. Under large throttle openings, fuel is discharged through the passage H into the main air stream, but when the throttle is nearly closed, air enters the passage H and mixture is delivered to the bypass orifice E. The orifice E or the passage I may be controlled by a needle valve, and the fuelexit passage H may be formed by one of a number of interchangeable plugs having various-sized orifices. In a modification, the choke-tube F is provided with several passages J and with a corresponding number of passages H of different sizes, any one of which may be brought into action by rotating the choke-tube. The air-inlet passage R may be provided with a throttle valve P.
