Abstract
153,286. Holley, G. M. Oct. 27, 1919, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor having a through passage of Venturi form and extensions E, F, to the latter of which the float chamber L is attached, a bore G of the extension F having mounted therein the nozzle J, the top being slightly below the fuel level maintained by the annular float, mixture is formed in the bore G by air admitted through a passage V open to the atmosphere. The fuel overflows and forms a reserve in the bore G and passage V for starting. A needle valve carried by the extension E is used to regulate the fuel supply. A by-pass leads from the bore G to two ports X, Y; the throttle lies between these ports when it is closed, so that when slow-running mixture is drawn from the bore G through the by-pass and port Y, a slight amount of air is also drawn in through the port X. The main air may be heated so that this slight amount may also be hot.
