Abstract

155001. Constantinesco, G. Sept. 5, 1919. Spray carburettors.-A carburettor having an inverted'jet 3 has the supply of fuel cut-off, when the engine is at rest, by a partition 10 extending - above the normal fuel level in the float chamber. The suction of the engine, on starting, raises the fuel level to permit overflow into the jet, independently of the suction in the jet, by means of a restricted passage 14 communicating with the induction pipe at 12. A small amount of air is admitted to the jet below the valve 4 by passages 17, 18. The throttle is provided with a notch 20 forming the only passage for air in the completely closed position, thus assisting atomization. To prevent overflow of fuel into the passage 12 under these conditions, a valve 15 opens into the float chamber, which is provided with an air inlet 16 that may be regulated by means such as a valve. A hole 21 provides drainage for any excess fuel that may accumulate. The float is of the type described in Specification 155,000.
