Abstract

154,424. Buswell, F. Nov. 5, 1919. Spray carburettors.- The inlet of a suctionactuated secondary air valve is closed by a gravity - actuated ball when the vehicle is hill climbing. As shown, the valve casing 3 is provided with an air inlet 4 adapted to be closed, when the device is tilted, by a ball 1 which runs in a housing 2 having an air inlet 16. The valve 5 is provided with ports 8 adapted to be brought into register with ports 7 opening into the casing 3 when the valve is pulled downwards, against an adjustable spring 12, by suction transmitted through the outlet 14 connected to the carburettor. The ball may be arranged to act in conjunction with the opening by which air is admitted to the housing 2, or, according to the Provisional Specification, may control the outlet 14.
