Abstract

666,054. Spray carburetters. BOYCE, L. DE R. Sept. 12, 1949, No. 23484/49. Class 7 (iii) The fuel discharged by a main fuel nozzle 12 into a Venturi 2 is vaporized by hot gases resulting from the ignition by a spark plug 27 of a mixture formed in a byepass 20 by an auxiliary nozzle 22, the hot gases being supplied to an idling passage 13 when the throttle valve is closed. The passage 20 byepasses the choke valve 3 and is provided with weighted flap-valves 25. 26 operated by the air flow. The nozzle 22 is fed from the float-chamber 9 by a passage 24, and the passage 13 is fed with fuel by a passage 15. The fuel supply to the nozzle 12 is controlled by a needle valve 11 actuated from the throttle valve 7 or by suction, and the choke valve 3 is controlled by a thermostat and a latching segment 5 cooperating with a suction-actuated detent 6.
