Abstract

667,187. Spray carburetters. RIVOCHE, E. J. April 1, 1949 [April. 1, 1948], No. 8897/49. Class 7(iii) A rotary throttle valve 46, with ports 42, 44 controlling the air and mixture flow, carries one or more fuel nozzles 48. 50 having a member rotatable with the throttle valve to control the fuel supply, the nozzles comprising an outer member 54 rotatable with the throttle valve by means of the accelerator pedal 94, a second member 60 angularly adjusted to set the idling fuel supply by a lever 78 operated by a knob 84 co-operating with an indicating dial 88 and a third member 96 angularly adjusted to set the maximum fuel supply by a lever 118 operated by a second knob 124 with indicating dial 128. The fuel is supplied through a pipe 132 and ports 134, 136 in the members 60, 96 form an adjustable metering jet. The member 60 is adjusted so that a port 70 therein, co-operating with a control edge 72 on the member 54. is correctly set for idling, the port 70 being uncovered by rotation of the member 54 as the throttle valve 46 is opened. Compressed air may be supplied through the member 96 and the nozzles 48, 50 may be controlled simultaneously or separately and may supply different fuels. In a modification an additional angularly adjustable member is positioned between the members 96 and 60, and further modifications show arrangements of four and eight fuel nozzles. In Fig. 13, the nozzle 178 is supplied from a tank 180 and the nozzle 186 is supplied through a valve 190 from tanks 192, 194, 196 containing different fuels.
