Abstract

237,488. Rodriguez, I. Dec. 10, 1924. Spray carburettors.-To maintain correct proportions of fuel and air, particularly with changes of altitude, the air supply to the primary mixing- chamber H and the pressure in the constant level fuel chamber J are conjointly varied in the inverse sense by a valve F. The valve casing S is connected by a pipe 1 to the fuel chamber J and by a pipe E to the main air intake B, and communicates by a pipe G with the primary mixing-chamber H. A tube M, containing a slow running jet L and connected by a pipe N to the air pipe E, is arranged concentrically in the pipe G, and opens into the mixing-chamber C through passages 0, P on opposite sides of the throttle. The primary mixing-chamber H communicates with a, perforated tube R extending transversely across the main air passage. For slow running, the valve F is positioned as shown, air being drawn in through the pipes E, N, O, and fuel through the jet. L. As the throttle is opened, the chamber H is emptied of fuel and air is drawn in through the aperture F<3> in the valve F. As the altitude increases, the valve F is rotated in a clockwise direction, which opens the pipe G and closes the pipe I. At higher altitudes, the valve F is rotated in a counterclockwise direction, which at first partly opens the pipe G and partly closes the pipe E, and finally completely closes the pipe E. The operating lever of the valve F is detachable, so that it can be moved from one angular position on the valve spindle to another, in order that the lever may be moved in the same direction to effect both movements of the valve.
