Abstract
278,649. Tacconi, G. Oct. 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Addition to 265,536. Spray carburettors.-The parent Specification describes a carburettor having a main air passage b with intake nozzle e, and a branch passage g into which discharges a main fuel nozzle u in communication with a reservoir r containing a rotatable ported plug q. Whirling is produced in the chamber f between the Venturi d and the air nozzle. The improvements or modifications are directed to rendering the carburettor particularly applicable to aircraft engines and consist in (1) forming in the plug q an additional conduit x, y in communication, through a duct z, with the space above the fuel in the float chamber a, the port x being arranged oppositely to the existing port s; (2) providing in the primary air inlet an auxiliary nozzle 5 fed from the float chamber through a conduit 6 and calibrated nozzle 2 and adapted to come into action when the throttle is suddenly thrown wide open; and (3) a by-pass or slow-running device comprising a fuel tube 3 dipping into the main nozzle u and discharging into the flared end of a tube 7 leading to the vicinitv of the throttle valve c. By rotating the plug q, the pressure in the float chamber. and the effect of the air entering at s, t, on the fuel in the reservoir v may be varied.
