Abstract

309,893. Harel, L. Jan. 17, 1928. Spray carburettors. - To prevent the formation of an excessively rich mixture as the engine speed increases, the wall 11 of the nozzle is provided immediately above the normal fuel level m, n and close to the outlet 14 with two diametrically opposed holes 15, 16 through which opposed air streams enter to form a pneumatic baffle or screen the effect of which increases with the engine suction. The nozzle 11 is provided with a flange 12 screwed into a tube 5 forming an envelope 21 open to the atmosphere at 19, 20 and supplying air to the holes 15, 16. In a modification, the ports 19, 20 are located in a chamber to which air is supplied through a valve provided with an indicator and serving as an altitude control. Fuel is supplied through a calibrated orifice 8 in a plug 7. Specifications 128,610 and 189,076 are referred to.
