Abstract
329,081. Pedrini, E., and Vincent, A. March 15, 1929. Spray carburettors.-In carburettors having a preliminary mixing chamber formed in the nozzle structure, the main spraying nozzle and the conduit for the preliminary mixing air each opens exclusively into said chamber through a series of holes. Fuel from a float chamber 1 passes through a conduit 2, Fig. 2, filter 15 - - 21 and conduit 22 to the main spraying nozzle 23 formed at the lower end of a distributor 23' having rows of holes 23a which decrease in diameter upwardly, and closed at its upper end. This is surrounded by a conical member 29 also with rows of holes 29a which decrease in diameter downwardly, the space between the members 29, 23<1> forming the mixing chamber. Around the member 29 is a tight-fitting sleeve 33 having a row of holes 35 at its upper end, and around the sleeve is a casing 31<1> spaced from the sleeve to form a passage for air admitted through a plug 26. The outlet from the mixing chamber is adjustable by rotating the screwed collar 37. The sprayer projects into the restricted portion of a Venturi tube 4. A slow-running device comprises a conduit 39, Fig. 3, leading from the float chamber to a well 40 in communication through a conduit 41 with a groove 10', Figs. 2 and 3, in the cover of the float chamber. The groove is in communication with the interior of the float chamber which is open to atmosphere through an orifice in its wall which may be closed to prevent fuel flow under certain conditions. A spraying nozzle 44 is provided at the lower end of a tube 45 having a lateral bore 46 in communication with conduit 41, and another 47 leading to the slow-running mixture conduit 43.
