Abstract
330,320. Royer, F. H., and Lovesey, A. C. March 15, 1929. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor comprises a main straight air passage a', a fixed choke tube b in said passage, a main nozzle e delivering into the choke tube b, an automatic valve c' between the choke tube b and a throttle valve c, a byepass a<2> around the automatic valve, and a choke tube b<1> and subsidiary nozzle i in the bye-pass. The valve c<2> is actuated by a piston d in a cylinder a<3> open at its lower end to atmosphere at a<4>, and at its upper end at a<5> to the air passage between the throttle c and the automatic valve c<2>. The automatic valve is arranged to open only after some fuel has commenced to issue from the main nozzle. Fuel flow to the nozzles is con. trolled by metered plugs k<5>, k<1>. The nozzles are of the type shown in Fig. 2, comprising a central tube f<3> with rows of holes f' leading to a. space enclosed by a tube h which is itself surrounded by a tub h' open at its base through holes h<2> to the air passage. These holes in the subsidiary nozzle open into a passage a<10>. Fuel is delivered through orifices f<6>.
