Abstract

Spray carburettors.-A main jet nozzle k, Fig. 1, is situated in a well or sump i which is in communication through a conduit i<2> with a well i<5> containing a slow-running jet nozzle m and with an atmospheric well i<3>, the space i<7> above these two wells being open to the atmosphere at i<4> and also in communication through a duct i<6> with the slow running passages f, g. The main jet nozzle delivers to a passage e surrounding the choke tube or a number of choke tubes h and communicating with the bore thereof through a number of small lateral ducts, and' it also communicates near its lower end with the conduit i<2> through an aperture k<1> in its wall. The passage e may divide into three passages as in Fig. 3, or may terminate in a fan-shaped slot. The slow running jet nozzle m, Fig. 4, has a cavity m<1>, and an aperture m<2> to avoid an air lock. A screw l may be provided to adjust the amount of air drawn through the slow running air inlet, and a needle valve may control the main jet as in Fig. 1. The passage around the main jet tube k may be restricted by a projection thereon, or by restricting the upper part of the well or sump or by a combination of such means. The float chamber a has a flange b for connection to the carburettor body c.
