Abstract

192,226. Constantinesco, G. Nov. 22, 1921. Spray carburettors, of the type having an inverted nozzle g placed immediately over a butterfly throttle-valve r, have a baffle u arranged to protect the nozzle from the vertical component of the air flow in the induction pipe. The baffle u has apertures v on the air-inlet side, the total cross-sectional area of which is greater than that of a slot w on the engine side and a small hole y is provided in the throttle valve r. The baffle may be cylindrical and extend across the induction pipe. The float-chamber is in one piece with the induction-pipe and contains a pair of corks k attached to a bent-lever l hinged at m and operating a valve n. The nozzle is surrcunded by a sieeve e, the interior of which is in communication with the induction pipe through a restriction p, and with the floatchamber air-space through a disc-valve q.
