Abstract
507,977. Spray carburetters ABRAMSON, A. July 15, 1938, No. 21061. [Class i (iii)] In a downdraught carburetter having a mixing chamber the cross-section of which is varied by blades pivoted about pins disposed below a transverse atomizing nozzle, the blades being pressed by springs on to the nozzle and forming, in the starting and idling position of the throttle valve, through passages for air, the passages, formed between the blades and the bottoms of notches in the nozzle, into which bottoms the fuel discharge apertures open, are proportioned to remain invariable during starting or idling and to produce an air flow adapted to draw out of the nozzle the quantity of fuel requisite for starting or idling. A fuel nozzle 9, disposed transversely of a pair of spring-pressed pivoted blades 7 adapted to separate under engine suction, is cut away at its periphery at 12 to form air passages for idling and starting and the mixture is directed by a rib 14 on the throttle valve 11 towards an aperture 15 in the rib coinciding with an aperture in the edge of the valve. The valve, apart from the abovementioned orifice and one on the opposite edge of the valve, fits closely to the carburetter wall.
