Abstract

Spray carburettors. - The carburettor comprises a main nozzle a and a pilot nozzle b, Fig. 3, the latter including a ball or needle valve the stem c of which, loaded by a spring g, is adapted to be depressed by a cam on the spindle e of the throttle valve f so that the pilot nozzle is progressively closed as the throttle is opened the main nozzle A instead of being located at the smallest diameter of the choke tube i, is placed at a wider part and nearer the throttle valve in order, it is stated, to prevent a too poor mixture being supplied during acceleration. The choke tube, at its narrowest section, has a number of apertures j which lead to an annular space l between the choke tube and the body m. Some of the air entering the choke tube passes through these holes and annular space and does not pass the main nozzle. An extra air intake n comprises a ball, needle or other valve the stem o of which is adapted to be depressed by a cam p on the throttle valve spindle so as to admit additional air after the engine has attained a predetermined speed.
