Abstract

213,257. Henriot, L. March 19, 1923, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-The body 1 has a central bore 2, 3 of double conical form which may be completely closed by a conical valve 6 loaded by a spring 9 and the actuating rod 7 of which passes through a cover 8 in which are formed air inlet openings 10. Fuel from a float chamber passes a valve 18 to an annular chamber 12 whence it issues through ducts 13 into passages 14 to which air may be admitted from a chamber 15. The passages 14 deliver the mixture of air and fuel at the base of the conical portion 3 and in a tangential direction to facilitate mixing. The air inlet to chamber 15 may be controlled by a valve 16 or by the driver placing his finger over an aperture in a pipe leading from near his hand, when on the steering wheel, to the chamber 15. The valve 18 may be actuated independently or with the valve 6. By closing the valve 6 the engine may be used as a brake.
