Abstract

294,245. Martin, L., and Bouthinon, A. July 21, 1927, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Spray carburettors; vaporizers, external.-The carburettor is adapted to feed the engine at starting and during slow running with a light fuel mixture, and at higher speeds with a mixture formed from a heavy fuel which has been cracked by the action of a heated catalyst. Light fuel from the chamber 1 is drawn, when the throttle 5 is closed, through a nozzle 4 into the throttle chamber. When the throttle is open as shown in dotted lines, a disc 5a closes the outlet from the nozzle 4 and heavy fuel is supplied. This flows from the float chamber 2 through an orifice 6 into a conduit 7, whence it flows around a tube 8 conveying exhaust gas and through a tube 9 on to a catalyst consisting of a nickel or like ring 10 having conduits 10a therein. This ring may be heated by exhaust entering at 11 or by electric or other means.
