Abstract

315,644. Lavergne, J. Nov. 3, 1928. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor of the kind in which rich mixture is supplied through a conduit 2, Fig. 1, opening into the main air conduit 13, the air supply to the conduit 2 is heated in a tube surrounding the exhaust pipe, and the outlet of the conduit 2 is provided with a baffle 1 to deflect the main air stream from immediate contact with the rich mixture. The conduit 2 is carried by a member 3 which is secured to the carburettor body by a nut 4 and is provided with a socket into which is screwed the fuel nipple. The charge is mixed by a conical nozzle 15 provided with longitudinal slots situated on the engine side of the throttle 18. In a modification, two carburettors each provided with a rich mixture conduit 2 as described above, and one of which is provided with a nozzle 15, are arranged side by side and open into a common outlet, the throttle valves being arranged to open in succession. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a carburettor provided with a rich mixture conduit 2, as described above, is combined with a carburettor comprising a nozzle 28 supplied with aerated fuel and surrounded by a conical member 29 supplied with compressed air, the two carburettors having a common outlet 14.
