Abstract

221,143. Thomas, J. Jan. 24, 1924. Spray carburettors.-The. nozzle h<6> is supplied with fuel and with gas under pressure, the two supplies being simultaneously controlled by a hand-operated cock g provided with two ports coacting respectively with the fuel supply pipe e, f, and with the gas inlet pipe h which communicates with the pipe h<3>; the gas employed may be air, oxygen, exhaust gas or a mixture, and may be heated. The nozzle cap f<1> is detachable for cleaning, and is interchangeable. The main air is supplied through an inlet b controlled by a slide d or a valve. A conical baffle j<1> is provided in the mixture outlet, the baffle and the fuel supply pipe e being heated by exhaust gases supplied by a pipe j, and escaping to the atmosphere through perforations j<4>. In a modification, the gas is supplied to a nozzle surrounding the outlet end of the fuel pipe.
