Abstract

Vaporizers, external.-Mixture is supplied to the engine 1 through an induction pipe 2 provided with an air inlet device 7 and a conduit 5 controlled by a hand-operated valve 6, through which fuel vapour is drawn by suction from an air-tight fuel tank 3. The fuel in the tank may be agitated or may be heated, e.g. by exhaust gases. The inlet to the conduit 5 is provided with a filter 4' comprising a pipe 16, Fig. 2, surrounding a pipe 19 closed at the bottom, the inlet 17 to the pipe 16 and the part 18 of the pipe 19 consisting of gauze or porous material. The air inlet device 7 is provided with uncontrolled openings 10 and with spring-loaded valves 11, 12, 13, the springs being adjusted so that the valves open in succession. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the valve 6 may be replaced by a valve situated between the air inlet device 7 and the outlet of the conduit 5, and the device may be used in conjunction with an ordinary carburettor. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
