Abstract

491,330. Carburetters. SHARP, A. B. March 30, 1937, No. 9010. Convention date, March 27, 1936. [Class 7 (iii)] In the mixing chamber 2 of a carburetter receiving air through it suction-actuated valve 4 and fuel through a passage 18 the mixture passes to a heating chamber 3 having in its outlet a throttle 22 which is actuated conjointly with the fuel valve. The heating chamber is preferably of the tubular type heated by the exhaust gases. The air valve 4 is hinged at 4a to the walls of the mixing chamber and is normally held closed by a spiral spring. The opening movement of the air valve may be regulated by an arm containing a slot passing over a pin on the valve spindle. The valve 12, Fig. 6, working in the passage 13 controls the supply of fuel from a passage 14 through the passages 16, 17 to the fuel distributing means 18, 19. For starting, a pilot fuel pipe 26 may lead to the engine side of the throttle valve. The air supply may be filtered.
