Abstract

Compressed-air attachments for temporarily increasing the temperature of burner flames.-In an apparatus for decarbonizing cylinders and other parts of internal-combustion engines, combustion of the carbon deposit is started by directing the jet or oxygen or other gas on to it in conjunction with a flame, e.g. that of a taper or a combustible gas such as acetylene. The oxygen is supplied by an apparatus comprising a flexible blowpipe a, preferably of copper, which is connected through a rigid tube c, serving as a holder, and a flexible tube d to the reducing valve e of the gas cylinder f. A pressure gauge g or a pointer on the handle h of the valve e mav be provided. The nozzle b may be notched to form a fan-shaped jet. The acetylene is preferably supplied by a similar apparatus.
