Abstract

281,747. Galasso, P. Aug. 9, 1926. Vaporizers, external.-Liquid fuel is admitted to a vaporizer by a nozzle 13 which is formed in the seating of a spring pressed triple-cone valve 10, opened by engine suction, the supply of fuel through a chamber in the vaporizer being further regulated by a hand-controlled needle valve. The valve 10 has an annular groove opposite the nozzle 13 to facilitate the flow of fuel. A choke tube 15 is provided and the lower conical surfaces of the valve and that of the choke tube may be replaced by paraboloidal surfaces as shown in Fig. 5. Air is admitted through two sets of holes 9, 11 and the mixture passes down an annular passage 24 where it is heated by an exhaust jacket 2a. Secondary air is drawn through a number of radial passages 27 which are connected to a tube 5 provided with a hand-controlled valve 26. A part 6 forming the inner wall of the passage 24 is removable so that impurities deposited on it may be scraped off. The flow of mixture to the engine is regulated by a valve 29, and a three-way valve 23 admits fuel at starting.
