Abstract
233,788. Brock, D. T., and Charles, H. N. Feb. 15, 1924. Spray carburettors.-The carburettor is of the kind wherein fuel from the float chamber passes through a submerged main jet orifice and thence through an inverted diffuser mounted above the choke tube, into the main air passage. The diffuser comprises an outer casing, an inner tube 7, and between these a tube 6 with slits or rows of holes 6<1> at its lower end and held in position, so as to be replaceable by others, by a screw 9<1>. Fuel enters the space 4 and, when suction is exerted, passes along with air entering at 5 to the discharge conduit 8 where the mixture is further diffused by air entering at 9. In the pilot nozzle, fuel fed to the space 11, either direct from the float chamber or from the space 4 through a nipple 12, is discharged through an aperture 10 into a downwardly-directed air passage leading to the edge of the throttle valve. A curved deflector 2 is inserted into the choke tube to deflect, the air from the space 3 at the diffuser outlet and create at that space a greater suction effect.
