Abstract
281,141. Spiller, H. W. Feb. 18, 1927. Addition to 272,604. Spray carburettors. - The parent Specification describes a carburettor in which fuel is supplied to the main and slow-running nozzles through diffusers which may be removed without allowing fuel to escape. the diffusers being fed with fuel from the float chamber through a common supply pipe. According to the invention, fuel is supplied from the float chamber to the diffusers through separate conduits. Fuel from the float chamber 10 is supplied through separate conduits 57, 58 to diffusers 55. 56 detachably mounted in chambers 53, 54. Each diffuser is provided with air inlets 62, a calibrated fuel orifice 32. and rich mixture outlet orifices 34. The rich mixture from the chambers 53, 54 passes respectively through a conduit 65 to the main nozzles 63, and through a conduit 36 to the slow-running nozzles 38, which is controlled by a needle valve. Air may be supplied to the interior of the main nozzle 63 below the outlet orifices 64 through a tube passing through the wall of the mixing-chamber and through the closed top of the nozzle. The fuel conduits 57, 58 are formed in an extension 12 of the float chamber 10, which is secured to the body of the carburettor by a bolt 50. By removing a closure plug 69, access may be had to the main nozzle 63 which detachably secures the choke tube 16 in position.
