Abstract

273,233. Claudel, C. H. June 28, 1926, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Addition to 269,470. Spray carburetors.- In the carburettor described in the parent Specification, the float chamber is mounted above a horizontal mixing- chamber and is provided with a coaxial main nozzle system which delivers aerated fuel into the choke tube. According to the invention, both the main nozzle system and the conduits supplying the slow-running nozzle are arranged axially in the float chamber. The slow-running nozzle system comprises conduits 50, 51 situated in, and soldered to the wall of, the central tube 20 of the main nozzle, the conduit 51 communicating through a passage 57 with a valve-controlled outlet passage opening into the mixing- chamber adjacent the edge of a butterfly throttle. Fuel from the main nozzle, svstem enters the conduit 50 through a calibrated orifice 55 passing through the walls of both the tube 20 and the conduit 50 and, during the passage to the slow-running nozzle is aerated by air entering through an orifice 53 in a cap 52 at the top of the tube 20, and through an orifice. 60 controlled by a, needle valve 59. Fuel is supplied to the main nozzle through orifices 30. 32 and, during normal running, air entering through one or more of the orifices 33<1111>, 33<11>. &c. is drawn with the fuel through orifices 22 into the tube 20 which delivers at 21 into the choke tube. 3. In a modification, the conduit 50 is situated in the space between the tubes 20. 25. and is connected at the top to the conduit 51 by a pipe provided with an air inlet. The float 16<a> is spherical, the fuel level being arranged to pass, through the centre thereof, and the lever connecting the float, to the fuel inlet valve is provided with a. counterweight.
