Abstract

16,755. Davis, R. C. Nov. 27. Spray carburettors.-A cylindrical slide 10 is moved across the induction passage 7, 8 and encloses another slide 16 which carries the fuel needle valve 5, 6, both the slides being actuated independently by Bowden mechanism 11, 11<a>. The slide 10 is provided on the air-inlet side with a control portion 10<a>, which may be formed with a V-gap or otherwise shaped to facilitate control at small openings. The other side of the slide may or may not control the mixture outlet 8. The upper portion 6 of the fuel needle valve is of more gradual taper than the lower portion 5, the passage of the fuel nozzle 2 being tapered to form a seat for the portion 6, so that the fuel supply may be entirely cut off. The needle valve is mounted resiliently in the slide 16 so as to prevent it from jamming in the nozzle. At low speeds, air is admitted through apertures 12 controlled by a ring 13.
