Abstract

117,429. Valveless Two-Stroke Engine Co., and Duffy, J. April 19, 1918. Carburetting.-In carburettors of the wick type, the wick is arranged to surround the fuel mixture outlet and means are provided to regulate the supply of air. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the wick f surrounds the outlet b which is of the vena-contracta form and is formed of separate elements carried in holes or in a frame as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Air is admitted through apertures a' and o in the casing a and corresponding apertures l<1> and n in an adjustable sleeve l, The valve p, which is operated by a Bowden wire s, seats at e on the coned orifice and also has a disk t for varying the aperture for the passage of air from the apertures o. The valve carries a crosspiece u to assist in mixing the gases. In a modified construction, an annular wick is employed. In a further modification, a pipe is provided for supplying warm air in addition to or in place of the ordinary supply.
