Abstract

417,117. Spray carburetters. CARBURATEUR DEFI, 13, Rue Burdeau, Roanne, Loire, France. Jan. 23, 1933, Nos. 2142 and 2143. Convention dates, Jan. 22, 1932 and April 6,1932. Addition to 407,987. [Class 7 (iii).] The rotary plug 14 which serves as the throttle valve, to the centre of which, according to the parent Specification, an additional stream of gas is led during slow running, is, according to the present invention, cut away along one edge 14b to provide a passage between the interior of the valve and the manifold when the valve itself cuts off communication with a choke tube 11 across which is a tube 9 having fuel outlets 34. One end of the tube 9 communicates with a device for supplying a mixture of air and heavy liquid fuel; the device consists of a fuel nozzle 2 located in a coned member 3, air inlets being provided at 36, 7 and 5, while the other end 9<b> is open to the atmosphere through a conical orifice 37. The gas supply to the centre of the plug may be replaced by an emulsion of a light fuel and air or by a heated mixture of heavy fuel and air which is drawn from a nozzle 42 housed within a body 40 having a lateral air inlet 41, through a Venturi 43 and an exhaust-heated coil 45, into a chamber 14a provided with a sleeve forming an adjustable air inlet.
