Abstract

366,299. Spray carburetters. ATELIERS BARIQUAND & MARRE, 127, Rue Oberkampf, Paris. Feb. 18, 1931, No. 5122. Convention date, March 27, 1930. [Class 7 (iii):] A number of choke tubes a, a<1> deliver downwardly into a central conduit c<1> the outlet g of which is provided with a throttle valve f. The choke tubes are brought into action in succession by a suction-actuated piston valve provided with ports d<1> and a conical deflecting surface k. The piston valve may be of two diameters, the annular space h below the lower face of the upper piston d<2> being in communication with the atmosphere through an interchangeable calibrated orifice h. Suction is transmitted to the upper face through an axial duct d3. Nozzles b with orifices bl discharge into the choke tubes, and the inlet of the choke tube which comes first into action is adapted to be covered at starting by a tongue m which is integral with a shutter adapted to uncover additional air inlet holes n. A byepass provided with a separate air and fuel inlet, Fig. 3 (not shown), delivers on the engine side of the throttle in its closed position. Suction may be transmitted through a separate pipe instead of through the duct d<3>. In a modification the choke tubes and the ports controlling them are arranged in the cylinder and piston respectively of larger diameter: In a further modification, Fig. 7, the pistons l, d are of the same diameter, and are separated by a partition to the space between which and the piston d, suction is transmitted through ducts d<8>. Suction above the piston l is effected through the axial duct d<3>. The underside of piston l is open to atmosphere through calibrated orifice h<1>.
