Abstract

379,900. Spray carburetters. LEMOINE, P. L., 81, Rue de la Tour, Paris. Oct. 24, 1931, No. 29569. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1930. Addition to 337,142, [Class 7 (iii), Internal-combustion engines, Carburetting-apparatus &c. for], and 369,942. [Class 7 (iii).] In the earlier Specifications 337,142 and 369,942 on which the present invention is based there is described a carburetter having an air inlet fitted with a loaded valve 6, a conduit 11 which directs a current of air across the fuel jet 3 issuing from a nozzle 12 and a float chamber 2 connected by a conduit 13 with the space 10 beyond the valve 6. According to the present invention, an automatic cut-ofi is provided in the conduit 13 so that when the throttle valve opens the pressure in the float chamber and thus the supply of fuel are increased. The float chamber 2 is connected by a conduit 132 to a channel 136 surrounding the conduit 13 and passages 87, 86, 84 place the channel in communication with a chamber 9 in front of the valve 6 through ports 133 controlled by a plunger 137. When the throttle valve 5 opens the loaded valve 6 fails to open immediately and thus the piston 137 rises in the conduit 13 to close the ports 133. When the valve 6 opens, communication is established between the float chamber 2 and the chamber 9, to increase the pressure in the float chamber. In a modified construction shown in Fig. 3, instead of the plunger 137 being open to the atmosphere at one end through a port 142 the plunger has a reduced part 137a and holes 140 place the space below the plunger in communication with the passages 84, 86, 87 and the chamber 9 in front of the valve 6.
