Abstract

120,624. Feroldi, E. Nov. 14, 1917. Spray carburettors. - In carburettors such as described in Specifications 100,644 and 101,545 having a secondary carburetting chamber supplied with fuel from the main jet through a hollow adjustable ported plug, the plug is adapted to be actuated whilst the engine is running, and the ports therein are so arranged that the secondary chamber can be put out of action and air supplied to the main carburettor. The secondary chamber 20 communicates with the main chamber 16 through holes 25, 27 and is supplied with fuel from the main jet through the hollow plug 19 provided with an actuating lever 19". The plug has ports 21, 22 adapted to register with the secondary chamber 20 and with an air conduit 20<1>. The ports may be arranged as shown in Fig. 2, so that, when the port 21 is in register with the chamber 20, the port 22 is closed, or, as shown in Fig. 3, both ports 21, 22 may, in addition, be open together. The plug may be actuated from the throttle valve 24 or independently thereof.
