Spray carburettors. - The throttle valve a is provided with a mixture passage b bounded on one side by a segmental cut-off portion b<2> and on the other by a sheet of gauze d. When the throttle is in the cut-off position, petrol vapour that condenses in the induction pipe is retained by the gauze and furnishes petrol for a rich starting-mixture when the valve is opened. When a pilot jet is employed, a by-pass slot may be provided in the cut-off portion of the valve, the air and fuel being mixed in passing through the gauge. Specification 144,785 is referred to.
