Abstract

383,974. Spray carburetters. MEMINI, G., 16, Via Poliziano, Milan, Italy. June 29, 1931, No. 18747. Convention date, June 28, 1930. [Class 7 (iii).] The correct proportion of air to fuel is obtained by providing a well 8 fed from the float chamber 3 through a calibrated orifice 7, the well communicating with the atmosphere through a conduit 20 and, through a conduit 10, with the induction passage at a point 15 where the suction is less than that at the outlet aperture 11 of the main nozzle 12. The conduits 10, 20 communicate with the well through a series of ducts 14, 21 at different depths, and the main nozzle extends from a conduit 9 leading from the top of the well. Without the conduit 10, the air flow through conduit 20, with increasing suction, would also increase but not at so fast a rate as the flow of fuel through orifice 7, with the result that an increase in the fuel ratio would occur. With the conduit 10 however, the air flow gradually decreases with increase of suction and it may be arranged that the rate of decrease is greater than the rate of increase through conduit 20. For slow running fuel is fed to the edge of the throttle valve 1 by a conduit 16 fed through either of ducts 18 or 19. If the throttle be opened suddenly, fuel accumulated in chamber 8 will be utilized to form the mixture.
