Abstract
265,536. Tacconi, G. April 30, 1926. Spray carburettors. - The mixture strength is automatically maintained constant throughout the whole range of engine speeds. The carburettor comprises a primary conduit provided with a throttle valve c and an air nozzle e and into this conduit mixture is discharged from a secondary conduit g provided with a fuel outlet u and an air inlet i. Whirling takes place at the junction of the air stream through nozzle e and the mixture steam through conduit g, the amount of whirl increasing with the suction. The effect of the whirling is to diminish the suction in the branch g and prevent the usual excess fuel flow at high speeds. The fuel outlet u is in one limb of a U-shaped chamber, into the other limb r of which a rotatable member q with axial and radial bores v, s is fitted. The U-shaped chamber is fed with fuel from a float chamber a through a nozzle h and is opened to atmosphere through an aperture t. The composition of the mixture is determined by rotating the member q so as to cause the bore s to face the air current entering at i, Fig. 2, or to lie in the direction of such current, Figs. 1 and 3. According to the position of the member, the air stream past the nozzle h and the suction thereon are varied. In a modification, the venturi tube d is provided above its throat with addi. tional ain inlets. Specifications 126,729 and 175,621 are referred to.
