Class 57 In a speed governor for an internal-combustion engine, the control rod b of the fuel-injection pump is attached to a diaphragm d loaded by a spring e and subjected through pipe g to the pressure in the air induction pipe i to the engine; the pipe i is fitted with a manually-actuated throttle valve j. When the rod b is in a position corresponding to idling, it abuts and opens a valve m permitting connection to the induction pipe at a position on the atmospheric side of the throttle valve j and an isolating valve is fitted to shut this connection at all positions of the throttle valve j other than for idling speed. The isolating valve may take the form of a rotary valve r having a port u and fitted on the throttle valve spindles.
