Abstract

746,245. Carburetters. SOLEX. July 1, 1954 [July 21, 1953], No. 19351/54. Class 7(3) A carburetter including a constant level chamber is provided with means for connecting the constant level chamber either with the main air intake of the carburetter in an area which is located downstream of an air filter and where pressure is substantially equal to the atmospheric pressure when the number of revolutions per minute of the engine is above a predetermined value or with the outside atmosphere when the number of revolutions is below this value: As shown when the engine speed reaches a predetermined value the suction transmitted to a chamber 19 from a point in the induction pipe for instance the throat of a venturi 5 acts on a diaphragm 20 and closes a connection to the atmosphere by means of a valve 22 and opens a connection to the intake 6 by means of a valve 23. In a modification a pivoted double valve is employed and is controlled by a solenoid connected to the dynamo terminals. An example is given in which the generator operates the valve when the engine speed has reached 600 r.p.m. The air filter is indicated at 7. The valve 22 could be used in combination with the electro-magnetic control or the pivoted valve could be used with the reduced pressure control described above.
