Abstract

A carburettor for a mixture compressing internal combustion engine incorporates a speed limiting device comprising an engine speed responsive switch which, when a predetermined speed is reached operates a solenoid 15 so that the pressure in the air space of the float chamber is the same as the pressure downstream of piston 3. A first pressure line 8 branches from the air intake passage 1, upstream of a venturi 2, and a second pressure line 13 communicates with the venturi (2). Each pressure line communicates with the interior of the float chamber by way of one of two throttle valves 10, 12 which are controlled by the solenoid 15, so that one valve opens as the other closes. <IMAGE>
