Abstract

The carburettor of an internal combustion engine has a float chamber (1) supplied with kerosene. The outlet of the chamber leads through a valve (20) to the fuel inlet jet (6). The carburettor has a second float chamber (16) supplied with petrol and in outlet leads through the same valve (20) as the outlet of the first chamber. The valve is operated by a diaphragm (20e) to admit either fuel or a mixture of both in varying proportions. The diaphragm chamber (20f) is connected to a point (22) in the inlet passage immediately above the throttle in its closed position. The fuel admitted is thus controlled in accordance with the engine operating conditions to give the most appropriate fuel at each condition.
